Day 6 – Roma!
We headed for the hills on the way to Rome in the bright sunshine and clear blue skies.
En-route, we made a very brief stop to allow the slower ralliers to catch up (yes Paul, we’re talking about you!). This brief stop nearly turned into carnage as a full blown water fight ensued. The end result - a win for Team AA!
Shortly after this we found out that the hotel we were heading for was the wrong one - nice one Kelly! After the panic, we re-programmed our trusty Sat Navs and continued to Monteleone di Spoleta for a scheduled coffee break.
This break gave us the ideal opportunity to dry out and take in the stunning surroundings.
We continued to Rome in the heat of the day, it peaked at a very nice 33oC. One last break gave Laura (Team BEN) the opportunity to flirt with Team DB4 and blag a ride in the DB4 itself (a disappointment after riding shot gun in the Renault Traffic van).
As soon as everyone arrived at the hotel we went for a dip in the outdoor pool. It wasn’t long before Laura was thrown in twice (with little resistance).
In the early evening we headed into Rome to take in the architecture and history of one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Needless to say, no one was disappointed with what we saw. Trevi fountain was very impressive in an indescribable way! At 11pm it came alive! From there we trotted off to the Colosseum and yet again we were not disappointed.
All in all, a fab day!
